This record stood till the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, where India's Balbir Singh, Sr. scored 5 goals in India's 6-1 victory over the Netherlands. Pridmore was also a cricketer, and played first-class cricket as a right-hand batsman for Warwickshire. Pridmore was killed in action, aged 31, during the First World War,[2] serving as a major with the Royal Field Artillery near the Piave River in Italy.[3] He was buried at the Giavera British Cemetery nearby.[4] See also
