There are three or four species, found in rainforest and secondary scrub in the Caribbean and Central America.[2]SpeciesAccording to Hanno Schaefer and Susanne Renner, there are four species in the genus.[2] {{As of|2016|March}}, The Plant List gave only three accepted species:[1] - Sicana odorifera (Vell.) Naudin
