Floridablanca, officially the {{PH wikidata|official_name}}, is a {{PH wikidata|income_class_ordinal}} settlement_text}} of the Philippines|{{PH wikidata|settlement_text}} in the province of {{PH wikidata|province}}, {{PH wikidata|country}}. According to the {{PH wikidata|population_as_of}}, it has a population of {{PH wikidata|population_total}} people.{{PH census|current}}

History

In the 1920s, the Pampanga Sugar Mill (PASUMIL) was set up at Del Carmen and became a major sugar manufacturer in the Philippines.

During World War II, the founding establishment of the local military general headquarters and camp bases of the Commonwealth Army of the Philippines was found active on January 3, 1942 to June 30, 1946 and the 2nd Constabulary Regiment of the Philippine Constabulary was active again on October 28, 1944 to June 30, 1946 and they military stationed in Floridablanca, Pampanga.

In 1947, the Philippine Air Force established its major fighter base in an American military airfield there. They named it Basa Air Base.

Geography

Floridablanca is located on the western part of Pampanga along the Zambales mountain ranges and is bounded by the municipalities of Porac on the north, Lubao on the south, Guagua on the east, and Dinalupihan, Bataan on the west. It is {{Convert|40|km}} from the city of San Fernando and {{convert|106|km}} from Manila. The town is at an elevation of {{Convert|12|ft}} above sea level.

With an area of {{convert|17548|ha}}, it is the third largest municipality in the province, after Porac and Candaba.

Economy

Floridablanca is the second largest producer of rice in the province. It produces more than enough rice to meet its needs resulting in a surplus. In 1999, only 37.76% of its produce was used for its own rice requirement resulting in a surplus of 65.24% equivalent to 17,553 metric tons.

Local government

Like other towns in the Philippines, Floridablanca is governed by a mayor and vice mayor who are elected to three-year terms. The mayor is the executive head and leads the town's departments in executing the ordinances and improving public services. The vice mayor heads a legislative council (Sangguniang Bayan) consisting of councilors from the Barangays of Barrios.
