Large pools of water and boulders are scattered along the course of the wadi. As a geographical area, the wadi covers a large swathe of lowland and the Hajar Mountains.[10] Kuhūf{{efn|{{lang-ar|كُـهُـوْف}}, caves; singular: Kahf ({{lang|ar|كَـهْـف}})}} form some of the features of this wadi. These include Kahf Maqal[11] ({{lang|ar|كَـهْـف مَـقَـل}}),[12][13] which was described as an "underground chamber" of the Sultanate of Oman,[14][15] or the akthar ({{lang|ar|أَكْـثَـر}}, 'best') out of 4000 caves.[16][17] Aflāj (underground canals)[18] or ʿUyūn{{efn|{{lang|ar|عُـيُـوْن}}, springs of water; singular: ʿAyn ({{lang|ar|عَـيْـن}})[19]}} are also common in this wadi, including ʿAin Ḥamūdah ({{lang|ar|عَـيْـن حَـمُـوْدَة}}),[1] ʿAin aṣ-Ṣārūj ({{lang|ar|عَـيْـن الـصَّـارُوْج}}) and ʿAin Dawwah ({{lang|ar|عَـيْـن دَوَّه}}).[2]Villages or townsThe village of Badaʿ ({{lang-ar|بضعه}})[20] is a well-known stop for tourists in the valley.[15][21] Bidiyyah is approximately {{convert|40|km|mile|abbr=on}} by road.[22][23][24] See also
