{{Infobox_gene}}Disintegrin and metalloproteinase domain-containing protein 18 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the ADAM18 gene.[1][2]This gene encodes a member of the ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloprotease domain) family. Members of this family are membrane-anchored proteins structurally related to snake venom disintegrins, and have been implicated in a variety of biologic processes involving cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions, including fertilization, muscle development, and neurogenesis. The protein encoded by this gene is a sperm surface protein.[2] References1. ^{{cite journal | vauthors = Frayne J, Hurd EA, Hall L | title = Human tMDC III: a sperm protein with a potential role in oocyte recognition | journal = Mol Hum Reprod | volume = 8 | issue = 9 | pages = 817–22 |date=Aug 2002| pmid = 12200459 | pmc = | doi =10.1093/molehr/8.9.817 }} 2. ^1 {{cite web | title = Entrez Gene: ADAM18 ADAM metallopeptidase domain 18| url = https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=gene&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=8749| accessdate = }}
