"Go with the Flow" is a song by Queens of the Stone Age from the album Songs for the Deaf, released as a single in 2003. At the 46th Annual Grammy Awards, the song was nominated for Best Hard Rock Performance.[1]

Music video

The music video for the song was filmed in England by Shynola.[2] At the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, it won Best Special Effects and was nominated for Best Art Direction and Breakthrough Video.[3] The video—rendered in black, white, and red—features the band performing at the back of a Chevrolet pickup truck driving through a desert highway. The video also has sexual themes such as a metaphor of two cars colliding with each other, symbolizing intercourse, and an image of a bident showing some erotic attributes.[4]

Video game usage

The song is featured in the video games Freestyle Street Soccer, Hot Import Nights, Gran Turismo 4, Airborne and Arctic Edge. Röyksopp's remix is featured in ATV Offroad Fury 4. It appears in SingStar Rocks!, SingStar Amped, Rock Band and Rocksmith as a playable track.

Cover versions

  • Norwegian electronic music duo Röyksopp recorded a cover version and remix of this song on their Röyksopp's Night Out EP.
  • German electronic music group Northern Lite recorded a cover version of this song on their album Temper.
  • Pitty recorded a cover version for a Brazilian radio station.
  • Norwegian musician Stein Roger Sordal, formerly of Green Carnation, recorded an acoustic cover of the song.
  • Shortly after releasing Peace, Love, Death Metal via Eagles of Death Metal, lead singer Jesse Hughes released the two-song EP, A Pair of Queens, on 7" vinyl which included a cover of "Go with the Flow".[5] The EP also contains another Queens of the Stone Age track, "Gonna Leave You", which lends to the EP title A Pair of Queens.
