He appeared in more than 100 films between 1951 and 2000. He was born in the Copenhagen borough Frederiksberg and died in Charlottenlund. Strøbye was married twice. First to the actress and dancer Kirsten Jessen from 1953 to 1961, and from 1978 until his death to the actress Hanne Borchsenius. From 1962 to 1975 Strøbye cohabited with the actress Lone Hertz, with whom he had two children. Selected filmography{{div col}}
