One of four stations in Phase One of the project, it will have seven terminal platforms and is planned to open in 2026. [2]The station will include a pedestrian link to {{stnlnk|Birmingham Moor Street}} and Midland Metro and Sprint bus services will connect it with a new Midland Metro interchange at New Canal Street. [3] Birmingham City Council plans to use the location of the new station to promote development within the city, especially the redevelopment of the Eastside and Digbeth areas.[4]SiteIt will be built partially on the former site of the first station serving London to Birmingham trains, Curzon Street railway station. The remaining original entrance stone building, now a Grade I listed building will be incorporated into the design, as will the neighbouring Grade II listed pub The Woodman.[5] The Fox & Grapes pub in Park Street was demolished as part of the redevelopment.[6] ConstructionConstruction is due to complete in 2026. 2019At the start of the year the site was cleared.
