释义 |
Herff-Brooks Corporation was a short-lived automobile manufacturer based in Indianapolis, Indiana. It operated for about two years around 1915-1916. It was a successor to the failed Marathon Motor Works of Nashville, Tennessee, and operated with some of the same personnel and equipment. The name came from the Herff Brothers and H.H. Brooks. Brooks had been a Marathon officer and the brothers arranged to purchase some of the assets of that firm. Little other information seems to have survived about the firm. The name appears on many lists of historic Indianapolis manufacturers, but with no other information given. A 40 hp four, at $1100, and a 50 hp six, at $1375, were offered; for 1915 a 25 hp, selling at $765, was added. It is believed that only one Herff-Brooks automobile survives today. See alsoSee
