It springs in Ville-au-bois and flows for {{convert|5|km|mi|0}} through the province of Liège, before emptying into the Amblève. Around 1802, several farmers started looking for gold in the river and on the right bank the pits of a primitive goldmine can be found, although they have been mostly overgrown. The river had a low yield of about {{convert|0.40|g|oz}} of gold per ton of rock, although locals still talk about the man who "almost became a millionnaire" at the end of the 19th century.[1] References1. ^[https://web.archive.org/web/20070406125348/http://www.aywaille.be/ndls/tourisme/sitetouriste/fdQuarreux.htm Article on the history of the Amblève and the region], Dutch {{coord|50|27|N|5|44|E|display=title|region:BE_type:river_source:GNS-enwiki}}{{Liege-geo-stub}}{{Belgium-river-stub}} 3 : Rivers of the Ardennes (Belgium)|Rivers of Belgium|Rivers of Liège (province) |
