Horwich Parkway is a railway station serving the town of Horwich and Middlebrook near Bolton, in Greater Manchester, England. Located within the historic county of Lancashire the station is {{convert|16+1/4|mi|km}} north west of Manchester Piccadilly on the Manchester to Preston commuter line. The station is close to Junction 6 of the M61 motorway which adds to its convenience as a park and ride railway station. It has digital information displays.

Rail services are operated by Northern. Horwich Parkway opened on 2 July 1999 and is the only railway station owned by TfGM although Northern Rail are contracted to operate it. A ticket office was built in 2007 and car parking provision has been expanded on several occasions. A wind turbine was built in 2012 and the station is powered by green energy. Horwich Parkway is the railway station for the University of Bolton Stadium, home of Bolton Wanderers F.C. and the Middlebrook shopping, leisure and business complex.

Passengers visiting Horwich should be aware that the town centre of Horwich is much closer (1¼ miles) to Blackrod, the next station on the line, although it has fewer services, no ticket office and a smaller car park (100 spaces).

Services

Northern: there are 2 trains per hour Monday to Saturdays, northbound to Blackpool North or {{rws|Buckshaw Parkway}} and southbound to Bolton, with trains running alternately to Manchester Airport via Manchester Piccadilly or Manchester Victoria.[1] There are also a limited number of through trains to {{rws|Barrow-in-Furness}} and {{rws|Windermere}}. The delayed electrification work on the Manchester to Preston line (now running two years behind schedule) has led to a temporary reduction in service frequency here from the start of the summer 2018 timetable, along with regular weekend engineering blockades and replacement buses in place of the scheduled train service.[2]

Saturday and Sunday services were replaced by buses most weekends from May 2015 until November 2018 due to the late-running electrification work on the route.[3]. Weekend services resumed on Sunday 11 November 2018 after the completion of the electrification engineering work.

On Sundays there are two trains per hour to Blackpool North and one per hour each to Manchester Airport and Manchester Victoria.

On certain Bolton Wanderers matchdays there are football specials.

First TransPennine Express used to run the service from Manchester Airport to Blackpool North but this was passed on to the new Northern franchise on 1 April 2016.

Electric service commenced on 11 February 2019 utilising Class 319 electric multiple units.
