}} Richard Cameron "Dick" Wardill (5 July 1872 – 28 August 1929) was an Australian rules footballer and coach who played for the Melbourne Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). A ruckman, Wardill became Melbourne's first ever premiership winning captain when he led his side to victory in the 1900 Grand Final against the Fitzroy Football Club.[2] He died after jumping in front of a train in 1929.[3] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://demonwiki.org/tiki-index.php?page=Dick+Wardill|title=Dick Wardill|publisher=Demonwiki - The history of the Melbourne Football Club|accessdate=18 September 2015}} 2. ^{{Ref AFL Encyc|1st|459}} 3. ^{{cite news |url=http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article141397938 |title=VICTORIAN NEWS. |newspaper=The Australasian |volume=CXXVII, |issue=4,208 |location=Victoria, Australia |date=31 August 1929 |page=10}} External links{{Commons category}}
