It covers an area of {{convert|8.70|km2|abbr=on}} and had a population of 710 in 287 households at the 2001 census,[2] increasing to a population of 745 in 297 households at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of Broadland. The parish church of St Margaret, restored in 1878, dates from the 14th century and is a grade II* listed building.[3] In 1966, Felthorpe was the location of the first crash of a Trident jet, in which all four people on board were killed.
