Franz Wulfhagen (c. 1624–1670) was a German Baroque painter and engraver. According to Houbraken, he was born in Bremen, but he moved to Amsterdam where he became a pupil of Rembrandt. He learned to copy his style well, and thus was able to make a living from painting the rest of his life.[1] There are no paintings by him listed in the RKD, but he is noted there as an engraver and painter of religious works.[2] He painted many mayors of Bremen, and these paintings hang in the town hall there.[3] References{{Commons category}}1. ^{{Link language|nl}} Franz Wulfhagen biography in De groote schouburgh der Nederlantsche konstschilders en schilderessen (1718) by Arnold Houbraken, courtesy of the Digital library for Dutch literature {{Authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Wulfhagen, Franz}}2. ^[https://rkd.nl/en/explore/artists/96305 Franz Wulfhagen] in the RKD 3. ^The German Wikipedia article lists more references and works by this artist. 5 : 1624 births|1670 deaths|German Baroque painters|People from Bremen|Pupils of Rembrandt |
