G.704 is an ITU-T standard for synchronous frame structures used at 1544, 6312, 2048, 8448 and 44 736 kbit/s hierarchical levels. It was first approved in 1988 and last revised in 1998. G.704 gives functional characteristics of interfaces associated with: - network nodes, in particular, synchronous digital multiplex equipment and digital exchanges in IDNs for telephony and ISDNs; and
- PCM multiplexing equipment.
