Its seat is the village of Świdnica, which lies approximately {{convert|9|km|mi|0}} south-west of Zielona Góra. The gmina covers an area of {{convert|160.8|km2|sqmi|1}}, and as of 2006 its total population is 5,769 (6,187 in 2011).
