BiographyHaluk Dinçer was born in Istanbul, Turkey in 1962. Having attended the prestigious Saint-Joseph Private French High School (Istanbul), he received a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1985 and an M.B.A. in 1988, both from the University of Michigan.[1] CareerHaluk Dinçer began his career in the U.S. as a project engineer at General Motors Technical Center in 1985. Dinçer joined Sabanci Holding in 1995, serving as the Executive Vice Chairman of the Board of the automotive manufacturer TemSA for six years. He was appointed Vice President of the Food and Retail Group in 2001, and Food Group President in 2002. Dinçer has held the position of the President of the Retail Group since 2004. He is also the Chairman of the Board of the group’s retail companies mass-merchant chain CarrefourSA, discount food retailer DiaSA, and electronics superstore TeknoSA. In March 2011, Haluk Dinçer took over as President of the restructured Retail and Insurance Group of Sabanci Holding. Along with his previous responsibilities as Retail Group President, the appointment put Dinçer in charge of the pensions and life insurance provider AvivaSA and the non-life insurer AkSigorta, a partnership with the Belgian insurance group Ageas. Dinçer is also the Chairman of the Board of Sabanci Holding's e-commerce company, KlikSA; IT solutions company, BimSA; and real-estate company, ExSA. Non-Business activitiesHaluk Dinçer is a member of the Board of Directors of The American Turkish Society.[2] In 2015, he was the President of TÜSIAD – Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen’s Association.
