}} Heteronympha merope, the common brown, is a species of butterfly of the family Nymphalidae, endemic to the southern half of Australia. The wingspan is about {{Convert|60|mm}} for males and {{convert|70|mm|abbr=on}} for females. The larvae feed on Poaceae species, including Brachypodium distachyon, Cynodon dactylon, Ehrharta erecta, Poa poiformis, Microlaena stipoides, Poa tenera and Themeda triandra.[1] The common brown butterfly is emerging ten days earlier than it did 65 years ago due to the effects of climate change.[2] References1. ^{{cite web |url=http://staff.it.uts.edu.au/~don/larvae/nymp/merope.html |title=Heteronympha merope |author=Don Herbison-Evans & Stella Crossley |publisher=University of Technology, Sydney |date=7 May 2008 |accessdate=29 January 2009}} {{Dead link|date=October 2010|bot=H3llBot}} 2. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.australiangeographic.com.au/journal/butterfly-cycle-found-to-be-affected-by-climate-change.htm |title=Archived copy |accessdate=2010-03-25 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20100329064313/http://www.australiangeographic.com.au/journal/butterfly-cycle-found-to-be-affected-by-climate-change.htm |archivedate=29 March 2010 |df=dmy-all }}
