The official definition of the Lightweight class in Mexico is between {{convert|70|kg|lb|abbr=on}} and {{convert|77|kg|lb|abbr=on}}, but are not always strictly enforced.[1][2] Being a professional wrestling championship, it is not won legitimately; it is instead won via a scripted ending to a match or awarded to a wrestler because of a storyline. The Lightweight championship is considered a secondary championship in IWRG, with the IWRG Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship being considered the primary championship of the promotion. Pantera I is the current champion, having defeated Diablo Jr. in the finals of a tournament for the vacant championship. Pantera I is the 13th overall champion and the 12th wrestlers to have won the championship. The Lightweight championship was first won by Freelance in Naucalpan, Mexico when he won a 10-man elimination match.[2] The championship has only changed hands in Arena Naucalpan on IWRG promoted shows. Only Tetsuya Bushi has held the title twice, he is also the person with the shortest reign, 35 days, while Impossible has the record for the longest reign so far, 1,142 days in total.[6] Title history{{Professional wrestling title history top|active=yes|later=yes|unrecognized=yes|unknown=yes|}}{{Professional wrestling title history middle|number = 1 |champion = Freelance |reign = 1 |date = {{dts|2008|5|29}} |days = {{age in days nts|month1=5|day1=29|year1=2008|month2=2|day2=8|year2=2009}} |location =Naucalpan, State of Mexico |event = Caravana de Campeones (2008) |notes =Defeated Areoman as the last man in a 10-man elimination match. |ref =[3] }}{{Professional wrestling title history middle |number = 2 |champion = Tetsuya |reign = 1 |date = {{dts|2009|2|8}} |days = {{age in days nts|month1=2|day1=8|year1=2009|month2=3|day2=15|year2=2009}} |location =Naucalpan, State of Mexico |event = Revolucionarios de IWRG (2009) |notes =Defeated Freelance and Dr. Cerebro in 3-way match. |ref =[4] }}{{Professional wrestling title history middle |number = 3 |champion = Zatura |reign = 1 |date = {{dts|2009|3|13}} |days = {{age in days nts|month1=3|day1=15|year1=2009|month2=6|day2=18|year2=2009}} |location =Naucalpan, State of Mexico |event = Caravana de Campeones (2009) |notes = |ref =[5] }}{{Professional wrestling title history middle |number = 4 |champion = Trauma II |reign = 1 |date = {{dts|2009|6|18}} |days = {{age in days nts|month1=6|day1=18|year1=2009|month2=8|day2=16|year2=2009}} |location =Naucalpan, State of Mexico |event = Revolucionarios de IWRG (2009) |notes = |ref =[6] }}{{Professional wrestling title history middle |number = 5 |champion = Avisman |reign = 1 |date = {{dts|2009|8|16}} |days = {{age in days nts|month1=8|day1=16|year1=2009|month2=11|day2=26|year2=2009}} |location =Naucalpan, State of Mexico |event = Guerra Revolucionaria (2009) |notes = |ref =[7] }}{{Professional wrestling title history middle |number = 6 |champion = {{sortname|Tetsuya|Bushi}} |reign = 2 |date = {{dts|2009|11|26}} |days = {{age in days nts|month1=11|day1=26|year1=2009|month2=1|day2=10|year2=2010}} |location =Naucalpan, State of Mexico |event = IWRG Homenaje a El Pantera |notes = |ref =[8] }}{{Professional wrestling title history middle |number = 7 |champion = Dr. Cerebro |reign = 1 |date = {{dts|2010|1|10}} |days = {{age in days nts|month1=1|day1=10|year1=2010|month2=1|day2=30|year2=2011}} |location =Naucalpan, State of Mexico |event = Revolucionarios de IWRG (2010) |notes = |ref =[9] }}{{Professional wrestling title history middle |number = 8 |champion = Comando Negro |reign = 1 |date = {{dts|2011|1|30}} |days = {{age in days nts|month1=1|day1=30|year1=2011|month2=11|day2=3|year2=2011}} |location =Naucalpan, State of Mexico |event = Caravana de Campeones (2011) |notes = |ref =[10] }}{{Professional wrestling title history middle |number = 9 |champion = Dinamic Black |reign = 1 |date = {{dts|2011|11|3}} |days = {{age in days nts|month1=11|day1=3|year1=2011|month2=12|day2=22|year2=2011}} |location =Naucalpan, State of Mexico |event = El Castillo del Terror (2011) |notes = |ref =[11] }}{{Professional wrestling title history middle |number = 10 |champion = Carta Brava, Jr. |reign = 1 |date = {{dts|2011|12|22}} |days = {{age in days nts|month1=12|day1=22|year1=2011|month2=07|day2=01|year2=2012}} |location =Naucalpan, State of Mexico |event = Arena Naucalpan 34th Anniversary Show |notes = |ref =[12] }}{{Professional wrestling title history middle |number = 11 |champion = Chicano |reign = 1 |date = {{dts|2012|07|01}} |days = {{age in days nts|month1=07|day1=01|year1=2012|month2=07|day2=01|year2=2013}} |location =Naucalpan, State of Mexico |event = IWRG show |notes = |ref =[13] }}{{Professional wrestling title history middle |number = 12 |champion = Imposible |reign = 1 |date = {{dts|2013|07|07}} |days = {{age in days nts|month1=07|day1=07|year1=2013|month2=8|day2=22|year2=2016}} |location =Naucalpan, State of Mexico |event = IWRG show |notes = |ref = }}{{Professional wrestling title history middle |sort number = 12.5 |type=vacated |date = {{dts|2016|8|22}} |location =Naucalpan, State of Mexico |event = IWRG show |notes =Imposible declared that he was moving up to the middleweight division |ref =[14] }}{{Professional wrestling title history middle |number = 13 |champion = Pantera I |reign = 1 |date = {{dts|2016|11|13}} |days = {{age in days nts|month1=11|day1=13|year1=2016|month2=8|day2=5|year2=2018}} |location =Naucalpan, State of Mexico |event = IWRG show |notes =Defeated Diablo Jr. in the finals of a sixteen-man tournament |ref =[15] }}{{Professional wrestling title history middle |sort number = 13.5 |type=vacated |date = {{dts|2018|8|5}} |notes =Vacated aftrer Pantera had not defended the championship since January 2018 }}{{BundleEnd}} Championship reigns by combined length
