词条 | Kirklees, West Yorkshire |
释义 |
In the 12th century, the Cistercian monks built Kirklees Priory. The former gatehouse can still be seen, though the site is on private land.[2] There is a legend about Robin Hood who was supposed to be the nephew of the prioress, who sheltered him when he was fleeing from the Sheriff of Nottingham, but killed him with poison. There is still a "Robin Hood's Grave" on the local Ordnance Survey map.[3] The Jacobean Kirklees Hall was built in the late 16th century.[4] References1. ^{{cite news|title=Kirklees local authority marks its 35th year|url=https://www.examiner.co.uk/news/west-yorkshire-news/kirklees-local-authority-marks-35th-5020830|accessdate=23 April 2018|work=Huddersfield Examiner|date=31 March 2009}} {{WestYorkshire-geo-stub}}2. ^{{cite news|last1=Himelfield|first1=Dave|title=Kirklees Priory, Clifton, tops English Heritage At Risk list, followed by Emley and Dewsbury churches|url=https://www.examiner.co.uk/news/west-yorkshire-news/kirklees-priory-clifton-tops-english-7113678|accessdate=23 April 2018|work=Huddersfield Examiner|date=15 May 2014}} 3. ^{{cite news|last1=Himelfield|first1=Dave|title=Take tour of Huddersfield's most fascinating private estate|url=https://www.examiner.co.uk/news/west-yorkshire-news/robin-hood-ancient-buildings-take-9571658|accessdate=23 April 2018|work=Huddersfield Examiner|date=2 July 2015}} 4. ^{{cite news|last1=Beardsall|first1=Jonny|title=For sale: a piece of Robin Hood history|url=https://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/property/9356914/For-sale-a-piece-of-Robin-Hood-history.html|accessdate=23 April 2018|work=The Telegraph|date=26 June 2012}} 1 : Geography of West Yorkshire |
