Muhammad Bin Qasim, the leader of the Arab army that conquered Sindh and southern Punjab, was referred to as the Salar because he was commander of the Arab army. When the Arab army come in Multan region, a group of Arab soldiers from his army settled in the region. They became known as the Salara. This tribe is thus connected with Muhammad Bin Qasim.
