Plot

The story begins at the time of Tretayuga when Lord Rama (N. T. Rama Rao) breaking the Siva Dhanusu bow of Lord Shiva, Chandrasena (Jayalalitha), a Nagakanya, loves and dedicates her life to him. But unfortunately, Mahiravana (S. V. Ranga Rao) king of Patalalanka captures her. During the time of war, Ravana (again N. T. Rama Rao), calls for Mahiravana and seeks his help. Then Mahiravana promises Ravana that he will offer Rama & Lakshmana (Nagaraju) to Goddess to Maha Kaali by next morning. Learning it, Anjaneya (Arjan Janardhan Rao) makes a fort with his tail surrounding Rama & Lakshmana. But Mahiravana arrives in the form of Vibhishana, kidnaps Rama & Lakshmana to Patalalanka by making them into statues. Outraged, Anjaneya reaches Pathalalanka, tries to eliminate Mahiravana but he couldn't as his life is secretly hidden. On the advice of Sage Narada (Kanta Rao), he requests Chandrasena to know whereabouts of Mahiravana's life. In return, Chandrasena asks a word that his god should become her god. Anjaneya couldn't understand the internal meaning of her wish and he agrees. Chandrasena tactfully finds out the secret and Rama kills Mahiravana. Before leaving, Rama learns Chandrasena's wish because it is against the nature of Rama Avatar, he gives her the boon that her wish will be fulfilled in Dwaparayuga when he takes birth as Lord Krishna. Era's pass by, Lord Vishnu takes incarnation as Lord Krishna, Chandrasena borns as Satyabhama and marries Krishna. Here Satyabhama is a beautiful proud, self-respected egotistical, possessive lady and wants to acquire Krishna's complete love without sharing with others. So, on the provocation of Narada, she performs a religious ritual when she has to donate her husband and get back him by paying the gold of his weight. But unfortunately, She couldn't weigh him with her wealth as she doesn't realize that Krishna will only yield to his disciples' whether it may be is a leaf, water or fruit. Ultimately, Rukmini (Devika) weighs him with one Tulasidalam (Basil leaf) by praying when Satyabhama realizes her mistake and again becomes his devotee. Later Krishna as an embassy to Pandavas moves for negotiations with the Kauravas. But it fails, they try to capture him, but he shows his "Vishwaroopam", entire world form in him and moves. Finally, the movie ends Lord Krishna preaching Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna.

Trivia

N. T. Rama Rao directed most of the film. N. T. Rama Rao's mentor K. V. Reddy was in need of finance to send his son abroad for higher studies, but was reluctant to ask anybody for financial help. NTR came to know this fact from K. V. Reddy's friend D. V. Narasaraju (writer), who is also close to NTR. NTR knew that K. V. Reddy will not accept anything from others, so he requested Reddy to direct his own production, Sri Krishna Satya and assisted him for his son's foreign education. When Reddy expressed his inability to direct the film because of his poor health, NTR said not to worry about it and asked him to sit in the sets of Sri Krishna Satya and guide him in case of need. NTR always had two or three scripts which were ready to hit the sets and he chose this film's script. He decided to make the film from his own production house so as not to have any objections from his producers. K. V. Reddy was a high BP and Diabetic during the film's shooting even then he tried his best to help NTR during shooting, NTR did most of the direction and credited Reddy in the title cards.
