A team of archeologists decide to head to the island to uncover a possible Phoenician treasure, but instead they find a horrific mystery when someone, or something, begins to kill off the curious trespassers.[3] Cast
Critical reaction{{expand section|date=October 2014}}The film was dismissed as mere exploitation fodder by many critics.[5] Film critic Leonard Maltin gave the film a BOMB rating and mockingly said "One of the Horrors of Snape Island is the film itself".[6] However, over the years, the film has been embraced as something of an underground classic by the horror community. The Terror Trap horror review rated the film positively, calling it "A surprisingly adroit little British slasher, Tower of Evil is a revelatory sleeper.".[7] Elite Entertainment released Tower of Evil on DVD for the first time in 1999.[8] On 12 December 2008, Turner Classic Movies showed the film as part of their late night TCM Underground series.{{citation needed|date=October 2018}} References1. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.bfi.org.uk/films-tv-people/4ce2b6b8c336c|title=Tower of Evil (1972)|publisher=}} 2. ^{{cite web|url=https://catalog.afi.com/Catalog/MovieDetails/54578|title=AFI-Catalog|website=catalog.afi.com}} 3. ^{{cite book|title=New York Magazine|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=8uYCAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA11|accessdate=18 April 2010|publisher=New York Media, LLC|pages=11–|issn=0028-7369}} 4. ^{{cite book|author=Tom Lisanti|title=Fantasy femmes of sixties cinema: interviews with 20 actresses from biker, beach and Elvis movies|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=2_E6M3LEGP4C&pg=PA77|accessdate=18 April 2010|date=November 2000|publisher=McFarland|isbn=978-0-7864-0868-9|pages=77–}} 5. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.allmovie.com/movie/tower-of-evil-v50615|title=Tower of Evil (1972) - James P.
