It is the official state repository for material concerning Wyoming history and cultural heritage.[1] Permanent exhibit themes include coal, wildlife, fossils, Wyoming settlement, Native American culture and history, the National Park Service in Wyoming, and other Wyoming-related issues. The museum also hosts a variety of temporary exhibits and provides traveling exhibits to cultural institutions in Wyoming and surrounding states. In 2017 the museum opened a children's area called the Hands-On Habitats Lab. The exhibit features interactive exhibits that teach visitors about the flora and fauna in 5 Wyoming habitats.[1] The museum hosts a variety of programs throughout the year including lectures, exhibit receptions, and family programs. The Family Days series is a free program that provides children and their families with fun and educational opportunities to explore Wyoming's natural and cultural resources. The program is held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first Saturday of the month, October through May.[1] References1. ^1 2 {{cite web|url=http://wyomuseum.state.wy.us/index.asp|title=Wyoming State Museum|last=|first=|date=|website=|publisher=State of Wyoming|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=|accessdate=28 March 2018}} External links
