PreviewChennai city was one of the 9 cities that were selected for franchise bidding, when the ISL was founded in 2013. However, on 11 April 2014 it was reported that Chennai's main bidder, a consortium led by Sunil Gavaskar would drop out due to commitments with the Board of Control for Cricket in India.[1] Later, Bangalore franchise was terminated after their owners dropped out following a dispute with the organizers. Initially reports came out that the ISL organizers were looking for bidders for new owners for the Bangalore franchise before it was revealed that Ronnie Screwvala and actor Abhishek Bachchan would together bid for a Chennai team instead of a Bangalore franchise.[2]PlayersSquad{{Fs start}}{{Fs player|no=22|nat=IND|pos=GK|name=Shilton Paul}}{{Fs player|no=21|nat=IND|pos=GK|name=Abhijit Mondal}}{{Fs player|no=1|nat=FRA|pos=GK|name=Gennaro Bracigliano}}{{Fs player|no=29|nat=ITA|pos=GK|name=Francesco Franzese}}{{Fs player|no=25|nat=IND|pos=DF|name=Dhanachandra Singh}}{{Fs player|no=19|nat=IND|pos=DF|name=Gouramangi Singh}}{{Fs player|no=4|nat=IND|pos=DF|name=Khelemba Singh}}{{Fs player|no=15|nat=IND|pos=DF|name=Abhishek Das}}{{Fs player|no=5|nat=FRA|pos=DF|name=Bernard Mendy}}{{Fs player|no=27|nat=FRA|pos=DF|name=Mikaël Silvestre}}{{Fs player|no=23|nat=ITA|pos=DF|name=Marco Materazzi}}{{Fs player|no=6|nat=ITA|pos=DF|name=Alessandro Nesta}}{{Fs player|no=2|nat=COL|pos=DF|name=Jairo Suárez}}{{Fs player|no=18|nat=IND|pos=MF|name=Harmanjot Khabra}}{{Fs player|no=13|nat=IND|pos=MF|name=Denson Devadas}}{{Fs mid}}{{Fs player|no=26|nat=IND|pos=MF|name=Anthony Barbosa}}{{Fs player|no=28|nat=IND|pos=MF|name=Pappachen Pradeep}}{{Fs player|no=24|nat=IND|pos=MF|name=Jaison Vales}}{{Fs player|no=3|nat=IND|pos=MF|name=Sukhwinder Singh}}{{Fs player|no=8|nat=ESP|pos=MF|name=Cristian Hidalgo}}{{Fs player|no=10|nat=SWE|pos=MF|name=Bojan Djordjic}} (Captain){{Fs player|no=6|nat=Cameroon|pos=MF|name=Eric Djemba-Djemba}}{{Fs player|no=20|nat=BRA|pos=MF|name=Bruno Pelissari}}{{Fs player|no=7|nat=BRA|pos=MF|name=Elano}}{{Fs player|no=12|nat=IND|pos=FW|name=Jeje Lalpekhlua}}{{Fs player|no=16|nat=IND|pos=FW|name=Jayesh Rane}}{{Fs player|no=17|nat=IND|pos=FW|name=Balwant Singh}}{{Fs player|no=9|nat=Haiti|pos=FW|name=Jean-Eudes Maurice}}{{Fs player|no=14|nat=COL|pos=FW|name=Stiven Mendoza}}{{Fs end}}Current technical staff{{Updated|27 June 2015}}
