}}Allalmeia was a small notoungulate of around 3 kilograms. It lived in Mendoza Province, Argentina (Divisadero Largo Formation) during the Late Eocene.[2] DescriptionIt was a digitigrade mammal, with brachyodont and lophobunodont teeth. It had a generalized way of locomotion, that means, it could move easily in any terrain, but probably it preferred the safety of the forest trees where it lived. Although being an ungulate, Allalmeia had claws as the oldest mammals.[3] References{{portal|Paleontology|Paleogene|Prehistoric mammals|Prehistory of South America}}1. ^{{cite journal |author=Rusconi, C.|title=Nuevo mamífero fósil de Mendoza|journal=Boletín Paleontológico de Buenos Aires|year=1946|volume=20|pages=1–2}} {{Taxonbar|from=Q16529001}}2. ^Allalmeia at Fossilworks.org 3. ^{{cite journal|author=Lorente, Malena|author2=Javier Gelfo |author3=Guillermo López |title=Postcranial anatomy of the early notoungulate Allalmeia atalaensis from the Eocene of Argentina|journal=Alcheringa|volume=38 |issue=3 |pages=398–411 |year=2014|url=http://www.tandfonline.com/eprint/rxYK4RNkHibM7yQmrSfW/full |doi=10.1080/03115518.2014.885199}} 7 : Typotheres|Eocene mammals of South America|Tinguirirican|Divisaderan|Paleogene Argentina|Fossils of Argentina|Fossil taxa described in 1946 |
