Bacteria serve as the natural host, with transmission achieved through passive diffusion. There are currently two species in this genus, including the type species Burkholderia phage BcepMu.[1][2][3] TaxonomySpecies:
StructureBcepmulikeviruses are nonenveloped, with a head and tail. The head has an elongated icosahedral symmetry (T=13, Q=21).[1] GenomeBoth species have been fully sequenced and are available from ICTV. They range between 36k and 38k nucleotides, with 53 to 55 proteins. The complete genomes are available from [https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/genomes/GenomesGroup.cgi?opt=phage&taxid=1198139 here].[2] Life cycleThe virus attaches to the host cell using its terminal fibers, and ejects the viral DNA into the host cytoplasm via contraction of its tail sheath. Once the viral genes have been replicated, the procapsid is assembled and packed. The tail is then assembled and the mature virions are released via lysis.[1] HistoryAccording to the ICTV's 2010–11 report, the genus Bcepmulikevirus was first accepted as a new genus, at the same time as both of its contained species. This proposal is available here.[3] References1. ^1 2 {{cite web|title=Viral Zone|url=http://viralzone.expasy.org/viralzone/all_by_species/2798.html|publisher=ExPASy|accessdate=13 February 2015}} {{Baltimore classification}}{{Taxonbar|from=Q18812833}}{{Use dmy dates|date=April 2017}}2. ^1 {{cite web|last1=NCBI|title=Bcepmulikevirus Complete Genomes|url=https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/genomes/GenomesGroup.cgi?opt=phage&taxid=1198139|accessdate=13 February 2015}} 3. ^1 {{cite web|last1=ICTV|title=Virus Taxonomy: 2013 Release|url=http://ictvonline.org/virusTaxonomy.asp|accessdate=13 February 2015}} 1 : Myoviridae |
