It has been found only in the State of Oaxaca in southwestern Mexico.[1]Flaveria kochiana is a subshrub up to {{convert|30|cm|in|abbr=on}} tall. Leaves are long and narrow, generally about {{convert|9|cm|in|abbr=on}} long. One plant can produce numerous small yellow flower heads densely packed in a tight clump.
