It has been found only in southern Sonora and southwestern Chihuahua in northwestern Mexico. Some of the populations lie very close to hot mineral springs.[1]Flaveria sonorensis is a perennial herb up to {{convert|100|cm|in|0|abbr=on}} tall. Leaves are long and narrow, up to {{convert|14|cm|in|round=0.5|abbr=on}} long.
