GCaribbean magazine was a lifestyle publication for men in, of and connected to the Caribbean. Published by Geoff & Company (Geoff & Co.), the magazine explored the interests and indulgences of Caribbean guys, serving as a confluence of their curiosities, style, panache and unabashed revelry. Not singularly defined, the “G” in GCaribbean channelled its meaning from ‘G’ words that are elements of a man: Gentleman, Gangster, Gallant, Gifted and Genius. In January 2016 Geoff & Co. announced that the magazine would cease publication immediately and be replaced by a new media brand entitled, Sagaboi.

GCaribbean's pages featured curated content covering the latest in fashion, technology, entertainment, travel, automobiles, health and fitness, business, sports, culture, as well as unique profiles of relevant celebrities, athletes, leaders, and other fascinating people of notoriety. With a fresh design aesthetic and definitive culturally relevant content,[1] the magazine spoke directly to upwardly mobile men connected to the Caribbean. GCaribbean was published quarterly.

History

GCaribbean was launched in 2013 with Soca Musician Machel Montano covering the premiere issue which featured editorials on Bob Marley's documentary "Marley", Malcolm Gladwell, Melanie Fiona[2] (who both have Caribbean roots), West Indies Cricket and a comprehensive editorial section on Rum. In February 2013 the magazine launched in New York city with Barbadian singer and songwriter Shontelle hosting the launch event. Shontelle was joined by Rickstar, the London-based recording artist who performed live and paid tribute to his own Jamaican roots.[3]

For many years attempts were made to publish a Caribbean men’s magazine, GCaribbean was the first to succeed.[4] In 2011, Geoff & Co. recognized that globally no magazine media focuses on this niche audience which presented an unmet demand for content and engagement.[5] With Caribbean culture nearing the epicenter of global trends and people of notoriety with Caribbean heritage such as Colin Powell, Eric Holder, Joan Smalls, Jennifer Lopez, Kerry Washington, Naomi Campbell, Naomie Harris, Nicki Minaj, Pitbull, Rihanna, Sidney Poitier, Usain Bolt and Zoe Saldana continuing to increase in celebrity, the time for a Caribbean men’s magazine was opportune.[6] GCaribbeans other cover stars included Shontelle, and male model sensation, Corey Baptiste.
