HistoryGlobal Washington was founded in December 2008 by the Seattle International Foundation, the University of Washington, and Washington State University.[2] Kristen Dailey, formerly of Initiative for Global Development, became the association's executive director in May 2014.[3] AdvocacyIn 2008 the United States Federal Government budgeted about 30 billion USD for foreign aid and of that, about 8 billion was for healthcare. Global Washington criticized this budget for neglecting development.[4] Global Washington has organized conferences to discuss how United States foreign aid should be distributed.[5] References1. ^{{cite web |url=http://globalwa.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/501C3-letter.pdf |title=Letter 947 (D0/CG) [501(c)(3) letter] |work=globalwa.org |date=2010-01-27 |accessdate=2015-09-05 |last=Choi |first=Robert |publisher=Internal Revenue Service |location=Cincinnati, OH}} 2. ^{{cite web |url= http://globalwa.org/who-we-are/our-history/ |title=Our History |first= |last=|work=globalwa.org |accessdate=15 September 2011}} 3. ^{{cite web |url= http://www.humanosphere.org/podcasts/2014/05/kristen-dailey-global-washington-exists-makes-northwest-capital-international-aid-work/ |title=Humanosphere - Global Washington’s new chief explores region’s role as humanitarian epicenter |first=Gabe|last=Spitzer |work=humanosphere.org |date=16 May 2014 |accessdate=10 November 2014}} 4. ^{{cite web |url= http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/thebusinessofgiving/2009936442_making_a_case_for_foreign_aid.html |title=The Business of Giving - Making a case for foreign aid |first=Kristi |last=Heim|work=seattletimes.nwsource.com |date=24 September 2009 |accessdate=15 September 2011}} 5. ^{{cite web |url= http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/global-washington-welcomes-policymakers-to-discuss-maintaining-foreign-aid-amidst-proposed-cuts-128470593.html |title=Global Washington Welcomes Policymakers to Discuss Maintaining Foreign Aid Amidst Proposed Cuts |first=Bookda |last=Gheisar |work=prnewswire.com |date=26 August 2011 |accessdate=15 September 2011}} External links{{official website|http://globalwa.org}}{{Coord|47.610082|-122.334143|display=t}} 5 : 2008 establishments in Washington (state)|Non-profit organizations based in Seattle|Organizations established in 2008|Washington State University|University of Washington organizations |
