Shlemova made her first Uzbek team at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, where she competed in the women's 100 m freestyle. Swimming in heat two, she picked up a sixth seed and forty-fifth overall by three hundredths of a second (0.030 behind Chinese Taipei's Sung Yi-chieh in 59.21.[2][3] At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, Shlemova qualified for the second time in the women's 100 m freestyle. She cleared a FINA B-standard entry time of 57.13 (100 m freestyle) from the Russian Championships in Saint Petersburg.[4] Shlemova challenged five other swimmers on the same heat as Athens, including 15-year-old Quah Ting Wen of Singapore, and fellow two-time Olympian Nieh Pin-chieh of Chinese Taipei. She rounded out the field to last place by more than a second behind Nieh in 58.77 seconds. Shlemova failed to advance into the semifinals, as she placed forty-sixth overall in the prelims.[5] References1. ^{{cite sports-reference|Irina Shlemova|https://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/athletes/sh/irina-shlemova-1.html|6 December 2012}} 2. ^{{cite web|title=Women's 100m Freestyle Heat 2|url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics_2004/swimming/results/3535070.stm|work=Athens 2004|publisher=BBC Sport|date=18 August 2004|accessdate=31 January 2013}} 3. ^{{cite news|last=Thomas |first=Stephen |title=Women’s 100 Freestyle Prelims, Day 5: Inky Leads the Pack with a Swift 54.43 |url=http://www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/lane9/news/7873.asp |publisher=Swimming World Magazine |date=18 August 2004 |accessdate=19 April 2013 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20131228200618/http://www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/lane9/news/7873.asp |archivedate=28 December 2013 |df= }} 4. ^{{cite web|title=Olympic Cut Sheet – Women's 100m Freestyle|url=http://magazines.swimmingworld.com:9997/SPIPDF/080508olyscutsheet.pdf|format=PDF|page=50|publisher=Swimming World Magazine|accessdate=10 April 2013}} 5. ^{{cite web|title=Women's 100m Freestyle Heat 2 |url=http://www.2008.nbcolympics.com/swimming/resultsandschedules/rsc=SWW011900/index.html |work=Beijing 2008 |publisher=NBC Olympics |accessdate=6 December 2012 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20120821061742/http://www.2008.nbcolympics.com/swimming/resultsandschedules/rsc%3DSWW011900/index.html |archivedate=21 August 2012 |df= }} External links
