Italy–North Korea relations ({{lang-ko|이탈리아-조선민주주의인민공화국 관계}}) are the bilateral relations between Italy and North Korea. HistoryFor a long time, North Korea was considered isolationist[1] and "politically reclusive".[2] That changed in January 2000, when Italy announced its opening of official diplomatic relations with North Korea by Lamberto Dini, Italy's foreign minister, who also brokered reconciliation pacts at that time with Iran and Libya of Muammar Gaddafi.[3] North Korea's representative for the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization met with Lamberto Dini to formally establish diplomatic ties. Formal ties with a member of the G7 was considered a huge step for North Korea at the time.[4] In 2017 Italy expelled N.K.'s ambassador, in response to N.K.'s continued pursuit of its nuclear weapons program.[5] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives?p_product=NewsLibrary&p_multi=APAB&d_place=APAB&p_theme=newslibrary2&p_action=search&p_maxdocs=200&p_topdoc=1&p_text_direct-0=0F89AD75C21CFBDB&p_field_direct-0=document_id&p_perpage=10&p_sort=YMD_date:D |title=North Korea wages diplomatic campaign with a wary world |publisher=Associated Press Archive |date=2000-01-19 |accessdate=2012-03-21}} {{Foreign relations of Italy}}{{Foreign relations of North Korea}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Italy-North Korea relations}}{{NorthKorea-stub}}{{Italy-poli-stub}}{{Bilateralrelations-stub}}2. ^{{cite news |first= Howard W.|last= French | title= North Korea suddenly makes diplomatic waves | url=https://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/sandiego/access/51420823.html?dids=51420823:51420823&FMT=ABS&FMTS=ABS:FT&type=current&date=Mar+17%2C+2000&author=Howard+W.+French&pub=The+San+Diego+Union+-+Tribune&desc=North+Korea+suddenly+makes+diplomatic+waves+%7c+Establishes+ties+with+Italy%2C+sends+out+feelers+to+other+countries | publisher= San Diego Union-Tribune |date= 17 March 2000|accessdate=2012-03-21}} 3. ^{{cite news|first=ALESSANDRA |last=STANLEY |url=https://www.nytimes.com/2000/01/05/world/italy-opens-north-korea-ties-first-by-a-big-western-nation.html?scp=2&sq=North+Korea&st=nyt | publisher=New York Times |date=5 January 2000 |title= Italy Opens North Korea Ties, First by a Big Western Nation}} 4. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.atimes.com/koreas/BA07Dg01.html |title=Asia Times: Italy brings North Korea out of isolation |publisher=Atimes.com |date= |accessdate=2012-03-21}} 5. ^{{cite news |title=Italy becomes fifth country to expel North Korean ambassador |first=Anna |last= Fifield|url=https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/europe/italy-becomes-fifth-country-to-expel-north-korean-ambassador/2017/10/01/98785c14-a6ad-11e7-8ed2-c7114e6ac460_story.html |newspaper=Washington Post |location= |date=October 1, 2017 |accessdate= November 22, 2017 |page= |archiveurl= |archivedate= |deadurl=no}} 3 : Bilateral relations of North Korea|Bilateral relations of Italy|Italy–North Korea relations |
