John William Tims, DD (1857–1945)[1] was Archdeacon of Calgary[2] from 1898 to[3] 1912. Tims was educated at the Church Missionary Society College, Islington and ordained in 1884. He was at Blackfoot reserve from 1883 to 1895 and Gleichen before his time as Archdeacon.. Tims translated parts of the Bible into the Blackfoot language. The Gospel of Matthew was published by the British and Foreign Bible Society in 1890, and other portions of Scripture were published as Readings from the Holy Scriptures by the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge in 1890.
