词条 | Kavitha (village) |
释义 |
HistoryPrior to India's independence, as mentioned by Ambedkar in his writings, Kavitha was one of the villages known for incidents of caste based discrimination against Harijans. In 1935, when the untouchables of the village demanded from the Hindus of the village that their children should be admitted in the common school of the village along with other Hindu children, the Hindus were enraged at this outrage and took their revenge by proclaiming a complete social boycott. Ambedkar notes that the Garasia boys of the village threw Kerosene in the well used by the Dhedh and Chamar people.[2] References1. ^{{cite web|url=https://ananddp.gujarat.gov.in/Anand/english/borsad-taluka.htm|title=Anand District Panchayat - My Taluka|website=Ananddp.gujarat.gov.in|accessdate=23 March 2019}} {{coord|21|30|N|74|08|E|display=title|region:IN_type:city_source:GNS-enwiki}}2. ^{{cite book|last1=Ambedkar|first1=Bhimrao|title=What Congress and Gandhi have done to the untouchables|date=1946|publisher=Thacker|location=University of Michigan|pages=399|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=5FluAAAAMAAJ&q|accessdate=9 February 2015}} 2 : Villages in Anand district|Discrimination in India |
