Disciple of Sri Aurobindo and Mirra Alfassa. In 1976, the Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, appointed Kireet as Education Advisor to the Government of India. He also served as the Chairman of the Indian Council of Philosophical Research.[1] BiographyJoshi was born on 10 August 1931. He studied philosophy and law at the Bombay University. He was selected for I.A.S. in 1955 but in 1956 he resigned from the post of Assistant Collector of Surat initially in order to devote himself at Pondicherry (now Puducherry) to the study and practice of the Integral Yoga of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. He taught Philosophy and Psychology at the Sri Aurobindo International Centre of Education at Pondicherry .[2][3][4] In 1976,during Emergency period, he left Sri Aurobindo Ashram after by scheming with CPN Singh to get to be Educational Advisor in the Ministry of Education. He was then instrumental in using his political connections to ensure administration of Auroville was taken out completely of Sri Aurobindo Society. He also created trusts for collection of funds in parallel to what Sri Aurobindo Society collected for Auroville . He then foisted repeatedly false cases( which were proven in 1987 ) of misappropriation of funds against Sri Aurobindo Society. He misused his connections at the highest levels to ensure truth was suppressed and Auroville was taken over finally by the Government. This happened despite an unchallenged court ruling which incriminated Joshi while absolving Sri Aurobindo Society in Puducherry. .[2][3][4] From 1999 to 2004, he managed to become the chairman of Auroville Foundation .He died after a very prolonged battle with tongue cancer on 14 September 2014 in Puducherry.[2][3][4] BibliographySynthesis of yoga and allied themes
