The bike is powered by the LC8 liquid cooled, four-stroke, DOHC 999 cc 75° V-twin engine,[1] producing around {{convert|78|kW|abbr=on}}. It is capable of a top speed of around {{convert|123|mph|abbr=on}}.[2] The engine was evolved from the 950 Adventure. The bore and stroke were increased from {{convert|100|x|60|mm|2|abbr=in}} to {{convert|101.0|x|62.4|mm|2|abbr=in}}.[3] The engine also featured a revised camshaft and the carburetor was replaced with the electronic fuel injection. Brakes are Brembo two-channel ABS, except the S and the R versions which have no ABS.
