U.S. Route 199 passes through the center of town, leading south {{convert|8|mi|0}} to Cave Junction and northeast {{Convert|20|mi}} to Grants Pass, the county seat. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the Selma CDP has an area of {{convert|16.7|sqkm|order=flip}}, all of it recorded as land.[2] Notable residentsActor John Wayne used to visit the Deer Creek Ranch one mile west of Selma; it is now the Deer Creek Center for Field Research and Education. A friend of his used to own the ranch, and John Wayne used to keep some of his horses there.
