Li Huai Min ({{zh|s=李怀敏|zh|t=李懷敏|p=Lǐ Huái Mĭn|j=lei5 waai4 man5}}; born 4 August 1992) is a naturalised Hong Kong-Singaporean footballer currently a free agent in Singapore.

Club career

Li began his football career at the age of 15, joining youth team of Balestier Khalsa in 2009.[1][2] He was promoted to the Prime League team of the S-League club Balestier Khalsa when he was just 17, spending just one season playing under Salim Moin before leaving the club due to personal reasons. In Prime League, he scored on his debut for Balestier Khalsa against Gombak United.

He made his first appearance for Balestier Khalsa's first-team that year, as a substitute in a friendly match against Etoile FC. He scored on his first start against Beijing Guoan Talent in a friendly. Ended the season with 8 goals and 24 appearances to his name. Despite holding Singapore Permanent Resident status for years, Li still considered as a foreign players in league while Balestier Khalsa signed Vahid Bogučanin thereafter.

In 2012, Li followed his former coach and joined Changi Simei, a district team. On 15 December 2012, he scored his first & second goal for the team against Malacca FA U-21 in a friendly at Gadek.

Li had a short stint with Vipers FAA in 2013, which is a football club which competes in the National Football League (NFL) Division 3, the fourth-tier association football league in Singapore at that time. He played as a centre back and created a goal in his debut in a friendly match.

In 2016, he underwent unsuccessful trial at Gymkhana FC after playing 4 matches. He was selected in the squad of a non-league side, Simei United which intend to take part in Island Wide League but failed to do so. Partly due to his injury sustained in the friendly, he quit soon after.

Li returned to club football after 4 years of absent, partly due to 2 years of national service. He signed for Changkat FC, also known as Tampines Changkat CSC, in the NFL Division 2. Debuted in 5-1 defeat against Warwick Knight for pre season friendly. However, the chairman decided to withdrew from the league just 1 week before kick-off without notice. Thereafter, he joined Admiralty CSC and played against Singapore U22 in a friendly and was de-register from the squad due to injury.

International career

Li has never receive any national team call up. However, he had the intention to represent Taiwan. In 2011, he was given the contact of Technical Director from Chinese Taipei Football Association to arrange a trial but he was unsure about his future of where to settle down and his studies. Hence, letting go the opportunity.

Coaching career

In 2012, Li helped out with Balestier Khalsa as U-17 team assistant coach and finished 2nd place after his team lost 3-1 to Home United U-17 in the final.

Personal life

Li was born in Hong Kong and his family migrated to Singapore in 1999. His mother is a Taiwanese which means that he was eligible to represent either Hong Kong or Taiwan before he obtained Singapore citizenship in November 2016. He is also a fan of his former football club Balestier Khalsa, even creating a Facebook fan page titled ‘Tiger’s Troopers’.[3]
