He was first elected in the 2014 Indian general election, having run as the Janata Dal (United) candidate in the constituency.[1][2] First time in 2010 he was elected as mla of the BAISI of purnea district as a BJP candidate. One month before 2014 lok sabha election he has joined JD (U) as he got the M.P ticket from party.
