Quearney was a songwriter and guitarist with the Irish bands Dragonfly and Lir in the 1990’s. He is currently a member of the Irish band Square Pegs. [1] BiographyEarly yearsHe was a songwriter and guitarist the band Lir in 1994. The documentary filmmaker Shimmy Marcus directed a movie about Lir called Good Cake, Bad Cake[2] (2013) https://vimeo.com/83920234. In 2001 Quearney released his debut solo album ‘The World’s Not Round’ and has subsequently released two solo albums ‘Body Electric’ (2004) and ‘Root to the Fruit’ (2010) under the moniker Q. As a session Guitarist and Bassist Quearney has performed or recorded with artists such as Cathy Davey, Damien Dempsey, Colm Mac Con Iomaire, Mundy, Mark Geary, Jerry Fish, Tadhg Cooke, Bronagh Gallagher, Kíla, Pugwash_(band) and Susie Q. As a songwriter he has co-written songs with Lir, Dragonfly, Stano, Jerry Fish, The Pale and Bronagh Gallagher. He completed a Masters level Postgraduate Certificate in Creative Education at Middlesex Univerisity between 2012- 2014 and also studied Technology Enhanced Learning Teaching & Assessment at Dublin Institute of Technology between 2014 - 2015 CurrentlyQuearney is currently a member of the Irish band Square Pegs as Vocalist, Guitarist and Songwriter. Square Pegs were formed in 2010 by Quearney, Graham Hopkins and Keith Duffy. He debuted as a writer in 2016 when his musical stage play ‘Universe of Song’ was produced by The Gaiety School of Acting (The National Theatre School of Ireland) Directed by Eoin Lynch. He currently works as chairman of the board at IASCA[3] (Irish Association of Songwriters and Composers).
