It is the headquarters of Group 18 of the UAE Air Force Special Operations Command operates several types of helicopters from the base, such as the UH-60M Black Hawk and CH-47C/D Chinook.^[1] It is located close to the Umm al Nar Archeological Site.^[2]

Operations

A branch of the UAE Presidential Guard Command called the Presidential Guard Aviation (also known as "Group 18") operates from the base using the UH-60M and a number of other rotary-wing aircraft.^[3]
