From 2010 to 2017 he served as Bishop for Armed Services and Federal Ministries in the Episcopal Church (United States). As such, he was responsible for the Episcopal chaplains and their congregations in the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons.[1][2] He previously served as a military chaplain in the United States Navy Chaplain Corps, from which he retired in 2003 with the rank of captain.[1] He retired from full-time ministry and stepped down from his bishopric in 2017;[3] he was succeeded as bishop by Carl Wright.[4] References1. ^1 {{cite web|title=About Us: Rt.
