Brief biographyHe schooled from St. Paul's School in Calcutta (1984), Sanskrit Collegiate School (1986) and Scottish Church College (1989) in Calcutta. In 1991, he graduated from the University of Calcutta, where he majored in Bengali Literature and later in 1997 defended his PhD Thesis ("Comparative study of Bengali-Odiya Proverb" »). In 2008–2011, he took a course in Indian Classical Music, Folk Songs and Tagore Song (Rabindra Sangeet) at the Bangiya Sangeet Parishad (an Academy of Music, Dance and Painting) in Howrah. At present he is an Associate Professor in Department of Bengali at St. Paul’s Cathedral Mission College affiliated to the University of Calcutta. He is the Guest Faculty in Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira, Belur Math, Howrah. As invited resource, he taught (1) in Department of Sanskrit, Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, (2) in Department of Folklore, Kalyani University, (3) in Department of Bengali, Banaras Hindu University, (4) in Department of Bengali, Presidency University, Kolkata, (5) in Department of Odiya, Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. and in (6) Department of Nepali, Tribhuban University, Pokhara Campus, Pokhara Nepal).[1] He acted as Dean, Students Welfare in Kalyani University, Nadia. Research activityHe has been engaged in active research during the last 25 years (since 1992). He worked on various areas of humanities and social science. A list of his research activities is given here. [1] He is engaged in active research in since 1992. After completion of MA, He joined The Asiatic Society, Calcutta in September 1992 as Research Fellow of Folklore and Culture. He worked on "Cultural Identity and Integration of Bengal, Bihar and Odisha Adjoining Region" under the supervision of eminent Prof Ajit Kumar Danda. [2] He started Ph. D. Research on "Comparative Study of Bengali-Odiya Proverb" (Comparative Folklore) in Department of Bengali, University of Calcutta, under the Supervision of Dr. Subhas Chandra Bandyopadhyay. [3] He completed a Research Project on "Muslim Marriage Songs of Bengal" Supported by National Folklore Support Centre (NFSC), Chennai. [4] He has completed UGC sponsored Major Research Project on " Sri Jagannath Consciousness in West Bengal, Nepal and Bangladesh" (2009-2013). He was the Principal Investigator of the Project. [5] He did Post-Doctoral Research on "Comparative Folklore: Appreciating Bengal-Odisha Cultural Relation" in Department of Odiya, Utkal University, Odisha and obtained the highest D. Litt Degree in 2015 for this research. [6] At present he is engaged in UGC sponsored Major Research Project on "Jagannath Consciousness in North-East India" (2015-2018). He is the Principal Investigator of the Project. [7] A Project on "Vedanta-Islam: Re-understanding Swami Vivekananda's Philosophy of Oneness" supported by Swami Vivekananda Centre for Multidisciplinary Research in Educational Studies, Ramakrishna Mission Sikshanamandira, Belur Math, Howrah (2016-2018).
