Known as Herman by team mates after his resemblance to popular television character Herman Munster, he played in the New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership as a front rower for the Manly-Warringah and North Sydney clubs, winning the 1972 and 1973 premierships with the Sea Eagles. He also gained selection for the Australia on the 1973 Kangaroo Tour though he only played in eight minor matches and didn't play a test. Unwanted by Manly at the end of 1974, he went on to captain the North Sydney Bears, bringing much needed discipline to a club regarded as ‘easybeats’. Hamilton captain-coached the club to their last major trophy the Channel 10 Challenge Cup in 1978. In 2010 he was named at prop forward in Kurri Rugby League Club's team of the century.[3] A retired policeman, Bill Hamilton currently lives in Tea Gardens on the NSW Mid North Coast where he has given a lot of his time to the Men of League Foundation.[4] References1. ^[https://web.archive.org/web/20120426122832/http://www.rugbyleagueproject.org/coaches/Bill_Hamilton/summary.html RLP] {{Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles squad 1972 NSWRFL premiership}}{{Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles squad 1973 NSWRFL premiership}}{{1973 Kangaroo Tour squad}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Hamilton, Bill}}2. ^[https://web.archive.org/web/20090917113538/http://www.yesterdayshero.com.au/PlayerProfile_Bill-Hamilton_3650.aspx Yesterday's Hero] 3. ^{{cite news|last=cessnockadvertiser.com.au|title=Kurri Rugby League Club announces Team of the Century|url=http://www.cessnockadvertiser.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/kurri-rugby-league-club-announces-team-of-the-century/1891170.aspx|accessdate=2 April 2011|newspaper=The Advertiser|date=21 July 2010|deadurl=yes|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110308043221/http://www.cessnockadvertiser.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/kurri-rugby-league-club-announces-team-of-the-century/1891170.aspx|archivedate=8 March 2011|df=dmy-all}} 4. ^1973 NSWRFL Grand Final - Manly players 40 years later 10 : 1945 births|Australian rugby league players|Manly Warringah Sea Eagles players|Manly Warringah Sea Eagles captains|North Sydney Bears players|Australia national rugby league team players|Kurri Kurri Bulldogs players|New South Wales rugby league team players|Living people|Rugby league props |
