The name grossivenia is derived from Latin (grossus = an unripe fig and venius = veined) and refers to the purple lateral veins of the leaf blade. A. grossivenia is a tall emergent tree, up to 60 m, found in mixed dipterocarp forest and its ecotone to kerangas forests.[2] It is endemic to Borneo. It occurs in at least two protected areas (Bako National Park and Lambir National Park), elsewhere it is endangered due to habitat loss.References1. ^1 2 {{Cite book | last1 = Ashton | first1 = P.
