Crouch Hill railway station is a London Overground station on Crouch Hill between Stroud Green and Crouch End in the London Borough of Islington, north London. It is on the Gospel Oak to Barking line, {{convert|3|mi|65|chain|km|lk=in}} from {{Stnlnk|St Pancras}} (measured via Kentish Town and Mortimer Street Junction)[1] and is situated between Upper Holloway and Harringay Green Lanes.

The National Location Code (NLC) for this station is 7406.[2]

Design

The station has two platforms, one for each direction. Platform 1 is for trains toward {{Stnlnk|Gospel Oak}} and platform 2 is for trains toward {{LUL stations|station=Barking}}. This station does not have a ticket office except for the security office, which is not officially part of the station but is next to the stairs to one of the platforms. However, staff are present on the platforms during the hours trains are running. This station has two ticket and two Oyster card machines; one for each platform as well as two waiting rooms. This station has a shelter on each platform. The platforms are only reachable by stairs.[3]

There are no current plans to introduce lift access. The station was briefly equipped with APTIS ticketing equipment in 1988/89.{{citation needed|date=November 2012}}

Services

Since January 2010, trains run every 15 minutes in each direction, towards either {{Stnlnk|Gospel Oak}} or {{LUL stations|station=Barking}} throughout the day. All trains from the station are operated by London Overground.

The typical off-peak service in trains per hour (tph) is:

  • 4 tph westbound to Gospel Oak[4]
  • 4 tph eastbound to Barking[4]

From June 2016 until February 2017, services are disrupted due to ongoing electrification work (including track lowering, bridge reconstruction, overhead wire installation and platform lengthening). Weekday trains are only running between Gospel Oak and South Tottenham until late September, with a total line blockade in place thereafter until February 2017. Weekend services meanwhile will be replaced by buses until June 2017.

Connections

Whilst the station has no direct interchange to a tube station, {{LUL stations|station=Finsbury Park}} station is a fifteen-minute walk away along Stroud Green Road. Archway tube station is also a fifteen-minute walk away. There is also a direct bus link - London Buses route W7.[5]

London Bus routes 210;[6] W3{{citation needed|date=February 2015}} and W7[5] serve the station.

Awards

Crouch Hill Station was named as London Overground station of the year at the shining stars awards early in 2013 for Dashboard{{clarify|date=June 2015}} scores through 2012.{{citation needed|date=April 2014}}
