The Darjah Utama Temasek (Order of Temasek) is Singapore's second most important national honour and was instituted in 1962. Its Grand Master is the President of Singapore.

There are 3 grades of the Order of Temasek:

  • the First Class, consisting of the Badge and the Star of the Order
    • the Badge is to be worn on the right hip from a sash passing over the left shoulder and under the right arm, and the Star is to be worn on the left side of the outer garment
  • the Second Class, consisting of the Badge and the Star of the Order
    • the Badge is to be worn suspended round the neck from a ribbon, and the Star is to be worn on the left side of the outer garment
  • the Third Class, consisting of the Badge of the Order
    • the Badge is to be worn suspended round the neck from a ribbon.

Ordinarily, only Singapore citizens could be admitted to the Order, but in special circumstances non-Singapore citizens may also be admitted in an honorary capacity. The Order is conferred by the President on the advice of the Prime Minister. According to the Order of Temasek Rules 1996, the First Class award can only be given to a maximum of 12 people.[1]

Recipients of the Order are entitled to place the post nominals DUT(x) after their names, with (x) being the grade of the Order awarded.

In the centre of the Badge is a medallion bearing the State Arms in full colour on a white shield encircled by a red enamelled border inscribed with the words "DARJAH UTAMA TEMASEK" in gold letters.
    • The reverse side of the Badge bears a crescent and 5 stars.

    • The Star of the Order of Temasek consists, on the obverse side, of a silver star composed of chipped silver rays of 5 points, in the centre whereof is a medallion bearing the State Arms in full colour on a white shield encircled by a red enamelled border inscribed with the words "DARJAH UTAMA TEMASEK" in gold letters. A gold bar runs from the centre of each point of the Star to the medallion.
