Only 2,000 CDs and 700 LPs were pressed. Originally announced as The Adventures of Ms Penny Dreadful, Flowers featured four new songs, two instrumentals of songs from La Chambre D'Echo and an extensive remix of "Do you know my Name ?" from Sopor Aeternus' first album, Ich töte mich.... The first half of the EP remains some of Sopor Aeternus' most pop-oriented work yet. Flowers in Formaldehyde was re-issued the following year as part of the rarities box set Like a Corpse Standing in Desperation. Apocalyptic Vision explained that extensive counterfeiting of the EP was cause for its inclusion in the set.{{Citation needed|date=February 2009}} Track listing{{tracklist| all_writing = Anna-Varney Cantodea | title1 = In an Hour Darkly | length1 = 4:58 | title2 = The Conqueror Worm (by Edgar Allan Poe) | length2 = 3:28 | title3 = Minnesang | length3 = 3:36 | title4 = Von der Einfalt | note4 = "Of simplicity" | length4 = 1:40 | title5 = Hearse-shaped Basins of Darkest Matter (instrumental) | length5 = 3:39 | title6 = Leeches & Deception (instrumental) | length6 = 6:59 | title7 = Extract from: The Voices of the Dead | length7 = 0:58 | title8 = Do you know my Name ? / What has happened while we slept ? | length8 = 5:06 }} Personnel
