It is the terminus of the Green Line "E" Branch. It is located at the intersection of South Huntington Avenue and Heath Street on the border between the Mission Hill and Jamaica Plain neighborhoods. The station is accessible when served by the MBTA's newer low-floor trolley cars and buses. HistoryHeath Street station, announced as Heath Street/VA Medical Center during construction, was originally a minor turnback for the Arborway Line. In the late 70s, two waiting shelters with signage were built. After four years of rebuilding, "E" Branch service resumed to Heath Street (but not to Arborway) on November 4, 1989. It has served as the line's terminus since.[2] The shelter across the street from the Heath Street terminal was demolished in the 2000s, but the one inside the loop remains. The shelter is also used as an office for MBTA employees. The station was made handicapped accessible along with four other E Branch surface stations in a renovation project completed on January 13, 2003.[3] References1. ^{{MBTA Bluebook 2014}} 2. ^{{NETransit}} 3. ^1 {{cite magazine |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110116132810/http://ctps.org/bostonmpo/4_resources/2_transreport/archive/trpt0203.pdf |archivedate=January 16, 2011 |url=http://ctps.org/bostonmpo/4_resources/2_transreport/archive/trpt0203.pdf |title=MBTA Short Notes |page=6 |date=February 2003 |magazine=TRANSreport |publisher=Boston Metropolitan Planning Organization}} External links{{Commons category inline}}
